The Gateway Family YMCA Supports Military Families
The Gateway Family YMCA helps the families of military personnel maintain their health and well-being while their loved ones serve overseas
Union, NJ, March 27, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The Gateway Family YMCA announced today that the Military Family Membership program, provided in conjunction with Military OneSource and the Department of Defense, has been renewed for another year. This program allows qualifying Title 10 personnel and their family to participate in a free full privilege family membership to The Gateway Family YMCA.
“The Y encourages everyone to recognize the sacrifices that military members and their families make in service to our country,” said Krystal R. Canady, CEO. “The Gateway Family YMCA is honored to be able to give back to those who serve by providing the free family membership.”
The Gateway Family YMCA recognizes military families all year round, by bringing families together to have fun, grow, strengthen their relationships and build connections with other families waiting at home. Those currently eligible to participate in the initiative include: All families of joint deployed National Guard and Reserves; Active Duty Independent Duty station personnel (single or family members); Relocated spouses and family members of deployed Active Duty personnel; and Community Based Wounded Warrior Transition Unit personnel and their families.
“Military families have many needs when a loved one is away from home,” added Melynda A. Mileski, EVP/COO, “Whether it’s providing a place where kids can make friends and have a sense of belonging or providing a place for adults to meet health goals, the Y has a number of options to help here in our community.” All branches of The Gateway Family YMCA in Elizabeth, Union and Rahway participate in this program for the surrounding communities, allowing families to participate in programs that advance youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
