Breckenridge Real Estate Catches Heisman Eyes
Former Buckeye Watches Big Game from Two Miles Up
Breckenridge, CO, November 19, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Heisman trophy winner and former NFL pro running back Eddie George has decided it’s time to tackle the slopes and possibly real estate at Breckenridge Ski Resort. George was in Denver on Thursday to tape FSN Pro Football Preview for the upcoming Titans vs. Broncos game Monday night. Friday George and his beautiful wife Taj, formerly of the hit '90s R&B group SWV, arrived to a luxury home in the Discovery Subdivision on Peak 7. Eddie plans on doing a little skiing, but being a successful businessman, he is always interested in evaluating local real estate markets.
“Breckenridge offers most of the amenities of Vail and Aspen, but at a much more affordable price. Luxury was the missing element,” stated George. “Now with what Vail Resorts is building on Peak 7 and 8, that’s changing.” Business acquaintances at the Hall-McNeer Development Group informed George of the impending build-out in Summit County. “Anytime you hear the term ‘build-out’, it catches your attention. Quite simply, demand is about to exceed supply … forever. This is a great opportunity to look at some of their projects and learn about the local economy,” George added. Hall-McNeer’s local projects include a 17-acre estate parcel at the base of Peak 7 currently listed with Ten Peaks Sotheby’s and The Legends, a luxury town home development in Frisco.
“Markets approaching build-out are somewhat insulated and have historically proven to be safe havens for investment,” said William McNeer. While some communities struggle with declining home values, Summit County is relatively stable with double-digit growth this year. McNeer expects growth to slow over the next 6 months due to the tight credit markets, but as build-out approaches and lenders return, he expects that the local market will again take off. “I do expect some opportunities will present themselves in the coming months and with current low interest rates, it might be wise to buy sooner rather than later. That’s why a proven winner like Eddie is in town,” added McNeer.
In addition to the Heisman trophy, George won several NFL Rookie of the Year awards in 1996, and was the Tennessee Titans’ starting tailback until 2003. Drafted in the first round by the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans, George owns virtually every franchise rushing record. He also led the AFC Champion Titans to Super Bowl XXXIV in 2000 as well as four consecutive trips to the Pro Bowl from 1998-2001. Eddie is also involved in many entrepreneurial endeavors, as well. He is founder and part owner of The EDGE GROUP and ‘Eddie’s Sports Grill’ in Columbus, OH, besides his investments in real estate and fashion. When inquired about what his thoughts on Breckenridge, Eddie responded, “Combine the panoramic views, proximity to Denver and the nice people and you can’t help but be impressed.”
