Muzzles - Beyond the Myth
Experts Weigh in on the Many Uses and Benefits of Muzzles
Bridgeport, CT, March 21, 2015 --(PR.com)-- A muzzled dog is often assumed to be aggressive and/or dangerous. Simply said – that is not true. The Company of Animals believes that a dog dressed in a muzzle is a sign of responsible pet parenting, and they aren’t the only ones who follow this philosophy.
In an effort to re-educate the public on the many uses and benefits of a muzzle, specifically the Baskerville Ultra Muzzle from The Company of Animals, some of the leading pet experts were asked how they use a muzzle…
Dr. Jessica Vogelsang
Veterinarian, animal aficionado behind PawCurious.com and the upcoming book “All Dogs Go To Kevin”
“I recommend the basket muzzle to those who have pets with the bad habit of gobbling up foreign objects before the owner can grab it away. For those people it’s nice to be able to go in public or to the vet without worrying about their pet’s safety or the restriction of their breathing.”
Arden Moore
Animal behaviorist, master certified pet first aid instructor, best-selling pet author and Dogster columnist
“I recommend the basket muzzle in my pet first aid classes. The reason? Even the sweetest dog can bite if injured or in pain. This basket muzzle helps calm your injured pet and protects you while giving first aid.”
Karen Fazio
Head trainer of The Dog Super Nanny, NJ.com and Inside New Jersey Magazine pet editor
“Muzzles can offer a sense of peace, comfort and safety to dogs who suffer from certain fears. When muzzled, a pet begins to rely upon species-specific calming and cut-off signals to communicate with their owner. The handler can then better learn and respond to these silent signals and reward the dog with avoidance of the feared stimulus. When used correctly, a muzzle can help build trust between a pet and their parents.”
Unlike other muzzles, while wearing the patented Baskerville Ultra Muzzle dogs can comfortably pant, drink and even be fed. In fact, every aspect of this product has been meticulously engineered for the pet’s maximum comfort, while providing pet parents the confidence that their furry loved one is safely and securely restrained.
The Baskerville’s interior features soft neoprene padding and is coupled with the exterior’s plastic mesh noted for it’s extreme durability, while still being lightweight and even malleable. Available in six sizes, suitable for breeds from the Jack Russell Terrier to Great Dane, the easy to fit muzzle is customizable. Just soak the washable muzzle in hot water and hand adjust the shape while it’s still warm, let cool and dress the dog. Repeat the process until a supreme fit is achieved. And for another layer of security, two safety straps can be utilized for additional points of attachment. One strap loops through the dog’s collar and one reaches overhead and directly connects to the muzzle’s rear strap.
