FPRA Southwest Florida Chapter to Present Branding and Beyond
Find out how Ford’s Garage became linked with one of the world’s largest automobile manufacturers.
Fort Myers, FL, March 21, 2015 --(PR.com)-- McGuigan Restaurant Concepts President Mike McGuigan will serve as speaker at the next luncheon meeting of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) Southwest Florida Chapter, from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7 at Florida SouthWestern State College. At this “Branding and Beyond” presentation, McGuigan will discuss how the dynamic branding of his restaurants has led to the success of his company.
One such restaurant is Ford’s Garage in downtown Fort Myers, a venture McGuigan holds with Kearns Restaurant Group. Mike and his partners launched the new restaurant at a time when The River District was undergoing its infamous renovations. The streets were torn up and dirt was everywhere, but they saw life in Art Walk and took a gamble. Enterprising on historical figures from our area, the group chose the Ford moniker. The local connection had paid off well in prior ventures such as Edison’s at the Fort Myers Country Club, so a 1920s themed burger restaurant opened as Ford’s Garage. And, not long after opening, they heard from Ford Motor Company, which led to a thriving relationship.
Mike grew up in the food and beverage business and holds a BSBA double major in Hotel/Restaurant Management and Marketing. He worked for Stouffer Foods Corporation after college and then opened a food brokerage company on the east coast of Florida. He sold the company and moved to Fort Myers when he opened his first restaurant, the Channel Mark, at age 25. He then opened a number of themed restaurants including Morgan’s Rain Forest on Sanibel and the Outlaw Steakhouse on Fort Myers Beach.
The cost for attending the meeting is $25 for members, $30 for non-members and $15 for students. It will take place at Building AA-177 at Florida SouthWestern State College, 8099 College Parkway in Fort Myers (visit www.fsw.edu for campus map). Guests must RSVP online at www.fpraswfl.org.
