Phoenix, AZ, March 25, 2015 --(PR.com)-- At the heart of Tempe you will find its prized possession: Tempe Town Lake. Year round the lake is home to triathlons, sailing, fishing, rowing, outrigger canoes, dragonboats, and most recently standup paddleboards (SUPs).
April 4, 2015 will be the 1st Annual No Snow Spring Challenge & Clinic centering around the Marina on the north shore of Tempe Town Lake. The day will start off with a 2 hour paddlestroke technique clinic lead by Riviera Paddlesurf pro team rider Thomas “Maximus” Shahinian. Following the clinic will be a series of competitive and noncompetitive distance challenges up to 6 miles. There will be a first timer/noncompetitive category, kids race, SUP cross, and awards. There are limited boards available to rent if you do not have your own equipment you can add one to your registration.
Food, prizes, music, free easter egg hunt, SUP Yoga demonstrations, SUP 101 intro to paddling, raffles, and an after-party for the whole family, all ages, all skill levels. The event will take place in the grass park areas on the north shore near the lake marina and boat ramps.
No Snow’s mission is to introduce stand up paddleboarding to the desert has been beyond successful. Uniting people from all over the valley and state getting together to socialize, train, exercise or relax is a joy. Race Director Court Fetter says it best, “Developing a flatwater SUP scene here is a dream come true and we couldn’t be more honored to team up with Riviera Pro Team rider Thomas Maximus to make that happen," he goes on to say, “No ocean required, just grab a board and explore Arizona in a whole new way!”
