Providence, RI, March 27, 2015 --(PR.com)-- 'Looking Over Yesterday' is the latest album from roots rock 'n' roll and early country-influenced singer-songwriter and Big Noise artist Brian McKenzie. Filled with melodies that stick and an energy that won't soon be forgotten, 'Looking Over Yesterday' offers a thunderous rhythm section, combined with fat guitar tones, and dreamy tremolo and moody swells, which blanket the acoustic-based singer-songwriter core.

'Looking Over Yesterday' raises the bar on McKenzie's previous album, 'Resolution' which received a nod from the Grammys. The new album is polished, well-produced, and features strong musicians, including Grammy Award-winning musician Phil Madeira on two of the album's tracks. Brian McKenzie is an old soul in the body of a modern day troubadour. He takes the roots element of Americana and adds his clean, smooth vocal style to create a sound once described by a club owner as 'Ameri-Crooner.' Brian draws on influences that range from the iconic crooners of the 1940s and '50s to early country, rockabilly and rock 'n' roll to the current breed of singer-songwriters. He blends the ingredients into a cohesive, well-mixed drink that you can easily get lost in. Brian's music has been described as the combination of Chris Isaak, Edwin McCain and the Mavericks.

Brian started out his music career in the early '90s as the founding member, main writer, and guitarist of the heavy-rock band, Warner Brothers/Giant Records recording artists Kilgore Smudge. After parting ways with the band (and the genre itself) at the end of the decade, Brian continued to pursue his solo career.

He released the acclaimed album ‘Resolution’ ( http://www.bignoisenow.com/brianmckenzie.html ) in 2011 and teamed up with Big Noise to spread the word. The Recording Academy placed him on the Official Ballot for the 55th Annual Grammy Awards in the following categories for the album: Best Country Solo Performance (‘Because of You’), Best Country Song (‘Isabel’ and ‘Tennessee’), Best Country Album (‘Resolution’) and Best Short Form Music Video (‘Waiting For You’ - http://www.youtu.be/iLKM_886Y5o )

Brian has been endorsed by Blueridge guitars, Shubb Capos, and LRBaggs electronics, appeared on Fox TV and PBS, has a song in the Jonathan Silverman directed film 'A Bet's a Bet,' and is continuously performing throughout the Northeast and Nashville.

As an avid collector of vinyl records, Brian is always on the lookout to discover sounds and influences he can draw on for new compositions. His wide range of musical tastes combined with his life experiences make for a unique perspective from which to write his material. Brian's music will sound familiar and inviting while creating something fresh and exciting.

‘Not only does he write tremendous songs - his brand new CD, 'Looking Over Yesterday,' is consistently excellent and beautifully produced - but McKenzie has an appreciation for classic American music. For every nod to Chris Isaak or the Mavericks, McKenzie offers a subtle and melodic tip of the hat to Marty Robbins or Gordon Lightfoot.

It's worth noting too that he has a superb band. McKenzie is more than worthy on an international level.’ - Rick Koster, The Day (Connecticut)
‘Brian’s songs come from an undeniably genuine place, and most importantly, they have substance, wrapped up beautifully in layers of sound that are dreamy and achingly beautiful. These songs could sit comfortably in a songwriter’s circle, or in a late night bar.’ - songwriter Anna May Thompson
