Los Angeles, CA, April 03, 2015 --(PR.com)-- “The Plus Side of Life” presents, Cancer Benefit Comedy & Fashion Show.
The Plus Side of Life produced by Kashuna “Perfected” L. Clayton will be held on Sunday, April 26th from 2:00pm- 5:00pm at the Moseley-Salvatori Conference Center 637 Lucas Street, Los Angeles, CA 90017. This live event featuring Comedy, Fashion, Live Music and more is unique in that it’s going to benefit plus-size women who have been diagnosed with cancer/ survivors in remission. These special honorees will receive Makeovers, pampering, gifts and given awards for their bravery.
The Plus Side of Life or TPSOL celebrates the inner and outer beauty of plus-size women, particularly those who have been diagnosed with cancer or who are cancer survivors; to encourage them to make healthier lifestyle choices; and to motivate them to see their beauty in spite of their health challenges.
Says Kashuna, “In a world dominated by slender body types, plus-size women are constantly working to achieve/maintain healthy self-esteem. It is sometimes difficult having to overcome the challenges of dealing with their body’s image. When given a cancer diagnosis, one has to work overcome a challenging emotional and mental state. When I was given my diagnosis on Sept. 11, 2014, I immediately went into Depression. The Lymphoma manifesting in my skin gave me significant discoloration and made me feel very unattractive. I didn’t like what I saw in the mirror. But through meditation and family support, I began to change my outlook on my condition. I was then inspired to assist other women like myself who are plus-size and living with a cancer diagnosis by giving them a celebration of support, Health information, fun and fellowship while raising funds for our partnering agency.” Needs Beyond Medicine is a 501c3 agency that assists cancer patients and their families with expenses that insurance may not cover. “I am proud to partner with such an agency that is truly making a difference in the lives of others.”
There will be pre-event suite for 10 cancer patients/ survivors. In this “suite,” Survivor Glam Squad, will gift the honorees with Hairstyling utilizing their sponsor, Peter Coppola’s products. Instructors & Advanced students from the Napolean Makeup Academy will be making up their faces and Kneadz Work will administer massages.
During the family-friendly show, Comedians Jackie Fabulous (Arsenio Hall, Raising Whitley), Al Gonzalez and Yvette the Funny lady will keep the crowd laughing. Spoken word by cancer survivor Elena Luv, Music by Timothy Butler and inspirational girl group, “Esther.” Kelli Palmer, Health Coach from Chazz Live will be giving Health Tips to the honorees and attendees. In addition, Plus-Size models will don fashions from various collections. Other highlights include gift bags from USC’s cancer center, health screenings and information, a vendor bazaar and more.
