CONRIC’s Communications Editor Earned Poetry Accolades
Sara Fitzpatrick Comito won first place in Southwest Florida Poetry Contest, appeared on WGCU interview series, Versed in Florida
Fort Myers, FL, April 28, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Connie Ramos Williams, CEO and President of CONRIC PR & Marketing | Publishing, is pleased to announce the agency’s Communications Editor, Sara Fitzpatrick Comito, has recently received numerous recognitions for her poetry. Comito has just won first prize in the News-Press Southwest Florida Poetry Contest. She was also interviewed for WGCU Public Media’s interview series, Versed in Florida in February.
As winner of the Southwest Florida Poetry Contest, her poem “Religion at the city pier” was printed in Tropicalia, the News-Press’ “Weekly Field Guide to Paradise.” She also read at Sanibel PoetryFest, held Wednesday, April 1 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Sanibel Public Library, along with the second- and third-place winners in the Mature Poets’ competition and the winners of the young poets’ competition (under 18 years of age). The contest was judged by Joe Pacheco, widely regarded as the Poet Laureate of Sanibel Island, along with poets Jim Gustafson and Allison Serraes.
For the Versed in Florida interview, News Director Amy Tardiff asked about the process and techniques the poet employs and the role the natural environment plays in Comito’s work. This segment revolved around her poem “All drains lead to the sea.” Three other segments, each featuring a different poem, will be published on WGCU’s website throughout the year.
Within the last year, Comito’s artistic efforts have been rewarded by inclusion in prestigious print publications such as the THRUSH Poetry Journal Anthology and Vector Press’ women’s issue, and online at the eclectic and exclusive Blue Fifth Review. Most recently she was invited to serve as curator of the Editor’s Eye feature at Fictionaut, where she was tasked with highlighting the best new work posted over a two-week span at the global, invite-only literary community. Comito has gained readership worldwide in dozens of electronic and print publications.
Comito serves in both the marketing and publishing divisions at CONRIC, providing writing for press releases, marketing materials and feature articles, and editorial management for the company’s niche and custom publications.
Ramos Williams said, “All of our team members have special talents, and it’s gratifying to see them achieve their professional and personal ambitions. Sara has a special talent for language that our clients recognize. I’m pleased that her poetry has also reached an appreciative audience.”
Comito said, “I’m fortunate to work at a company like CONRIC that encourages its team members to develop their talents both on the job and off. I don’t know of many other companies that would put out a press release to recognize their employees’ artistic accomplishments, for one thing.”
