Volunteer Training for Those Interested in Hospice
Become a Hospice Volunteer! Join Fidelis Hospice's next training class.
Falmouth, MA, April 05, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Fidelis Hospice is pleased to announce its Hospice 101/Volunteer Training class will be offered in partnership with Falmouth Community School in May! The training is free and open to any community members who are interested in becoming a Hospice Volunteer or who would like to learn more about the philosophy of Hospice care.
There will be two training sessions: The first will take place Thursday afternoons beginning Thursday, May 7th, 2015 from 1 PM until 3 PM at the Gus Canty Community Center. The second will take place Thursday evenings beginning Thursday, May 7th, 2015 from 6 PM until 8 PM at the Lawrence School. Both classes will run for six weeks and will cover all the necessary topics to help insure that you have a meaningful volunteer experience. Some of the topics covered during the training include Hospice History & Philosophy, Care & Comfort, Communication Skills and Spirituality in Hospice.
Hospice Volunteers provide a vital piece of the Hospice care puzzle. As a volunteer, you will provide caring companionship to people with terminal illnesses. From playing cards, to reading, to talking or just sitting quietly, the time you spend with our beneficiaries is invaluable and provides both you and the beneficiary an amazing experience.
“Most people think it would be sad to be a Hospice volunteer, but it's not. It's life-affirming and I cherish the time I spend with my beneficiaries,” explains one Hospice volunteer. “I have learned and continue to learn so much.”
To register for the training, please visit www.falmouthcommunityschool.org. If you have further questions, please contact Henry Roman at henry.roman@fidelishospice.com or 855-816-4777. Space is limited and preregistration is required. Volunteers also need background and drug tests which are provided at no cost. Volunteers can choose to volunteer with patients at any of the Falmouth, Buzzards Bay, Marion, Wareham and other communities that we serve.
At Fidelis Hospice, our primary goals are to provide comfort and promote the dignity of the terminally ill while relieving physical, emotional and spiritual suffering. Our care is provided in the home, nursing home, assisted living facility or wherever our patients call home. We offer an holistic approach to care provided by a dedicated team of caring professionals led by a physician which includes a nurse, social worker, chaplain, hospice aide and volunteer!
