Trees for Life Launches 2007 Christmas Appeal

Scotland, United Kingdom, November 22, 2007 --(PR.com)-- This Christmas, award-winning conservation charity Trees for Life is launching an appeal encouraging people to buy their friends and loved ones a specially-dedicated tree or a grove of trees in Scotland’s beautiful Caledonian Forest.

Backed by an advertising campaign – ‘A tree is for life, not just for Christmas’ – the appeal is encouraging people to replace the carbon footprint and needless packaging of many Christmas presents with a tree that will instead help to reduce the build-up of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

“A real tree in the Caledonian Forest will last much longer than the tree in your living room. It is a hugely positive present that will last a lifetime and beyond, growing as part of a renewed Highland forest. Every single tree bought for Christmas will make a real difference to our work,” said Trees for Life's Founder and Executive Director, Alan Watson Featherstone.

A single tree together with an A4 frameable personalised certificate costs just £15. A Grove of 8 trees costs £50, including a certificate and a personalised Grove Web Page on the Trees for Life website at http://www.treesforlife.org.uk/groves/. Each Web Page enables family and friends to contribute towards a meaningful, lasting gift that doesn’t cost the earth. Certificates for all orders received before 10 December will arrive before Christmas.

The Caledonian Forest is a vital habitat that is Scotland’s equivalent of a rainforest. It is home to a unique range of wildlife, including red squirrels, pine martens and wood ants. During 2007 Trees for Life has planted over 100,000 trees, re-creating an area of native forest covering 250 acres – equivalent to 125 football pitches.
