Taipei, Taiwan, April 07, 2015 --(PR.com)-- ALi Corporation, a leading Set-Top Box (STB) chipset solution provider, today announced its ready-to-produce set-top-box platform integrating well established GINGA middleware solutions for Brazil's Analog Switch-off(ASO) initiatives. ALi is collaborating with strategic manufacturing and branding partners to deliver this cost optimized design for the Brazilian market.
The unified set-top-box platform is based on ALi M3823's high definition ISDB-T integrated SoC. The highly-integrated M3823 embeds a high performance application processor with fast DDR3 memory and supports a real-time operating system as well as Linux, enabling easy porting of middleware and smooth execution of applications. With its tailored features and optimized costs, M3823 is particularly suited to support Brazil’s unique ISDB-T digital broadcast standard and GINGA middleware specifications.
Brazil, the 5th largest country in the world, has a population of 203 million people, 62% of which has access to digital TV as of 2014. With analog switch-off scheduled for the end of 2018, the country will add 28 million digital TV households to the current 35 million by 2020, according to Digital TV Research.
“ALi has a proven track record in supporting digital migration throughout different regions in the world,” said Tony Chang, General Manager of ALi’s Broadcast and Broadband Media Business Unit. “For Brazil ASO, ALi is working with leading influential eco-system partners in the country and rolling out highly-integrated platforms that can accommodate various GINGA middleware solutions. With our extensive experiences in delivering innovative STB technologies, we are determined to continue leading the segment and capture growth opportunities in Brazil.”
A live demonstration of GINGA-enabled M3823 platforms is available at ALi’s meeting room SU11624MR, south hall (upper) at the NAB Show, held April 13-16, 2015 in Las Vegas.
