Dr. Jess Barr Desbrow, DC - A Unique and Thoughtful Business Launch
Jess Barr Desbrow is about to enter the saturated professional world of Chiropractic in beautiful Portland, Oregon. She is also nearing a time when she would like to start a family. Not unlike many women out there, she has trained for many years for a rewarding profession, yet aches to find a balance with motherhood. She describes her thought process, options, and final thoughtful choice on her upcoming business launch.
Portland, OR, November 22, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Just a few weeks shy of graduating from Western States Chiropractic College, Jess Barr Desbrow, has been fervently planning for the next step in her career. Not unlike many of her colleagues who move to Portland for school- she wants to stay here despite the already large number of Chiropractors. "I don't need to convince anyone of why this is the best place on earth to live, but I do need to find a peaceful position amidst the chiropractic wolf-pack", states Jess with certainty.
It is common for new graduates to work as an Associate for an established doctor, thus affording them further experience and a chance to start paying back big loans before needing more money to start a practice. Though most former-associates that Jess has met ended up feeling like "slave labor, who despise the doctor for how little of the income they are taking home", she shakes her head, "and then there you with a sour relationship with what should be a supportive colleague".
To further complicate matters, Jess, now 31 years old and about to get married, is finding herself needing to plan for things bigger than just her profession for the nearing future. "I know there are billions of amazing working moms out there, but it is a huge factor in the ability to nail down business choices now, with babies on the horizon... I expect that I will want to work a bit while rasing kids, but will probably not want to go far from home for very long".
So, amidst the myriad of individual factors, Jess has finally come to a conclusion that feels just right for her, the future kids and the "wolf pack". "While I start a small simple practice from my home in SE Portland, I hope to fill in as vacation relief for local Chiropractic docs." This way, Jess can gain experience, while setting herself up for a home office when she's got little ones to juggle into the mix.
