Former Sex Workers Announce Return to the Streets of Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NV, November 22, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Former high-class escort, Annie Lobért and former exotic dancer, Heather Veitch are returning to the streets of Las Vegas. But this time, rather than turning tricks, they are turning lives around for God.

Annie survived over 11 years working the clubs of Minneapolis to the Las Vegas Strip as a high-class escort. She was a primary catalyst in the effort to build the prostitution network known in law enforcement as "The Minnesota Connection." Although she has been out of the industry for several years, Annie knows first hand the harmful affects that a life in the sex industry can have on a person. In an effort to reach out to her friends and others that have followed her path into “The Game,” she founded an organization known as Hookers for Jesus. She now devotes herself to full-time missionary work and helps others transition out of the sex industry.

Heather’s career in the sex industry included work in southern California and San Francisco, in addition to the Las Vegas Strip. In the mid 1990s, Heather was desperate to find work to support herself and her child. She quickly accepted a job as a dancer. As she progressed in her career, she was gradually introduced to the seedier side of the sex industry. Eventually, Heather joined the numbers of women that made the weekend trek between Las Vegas and Los Angeles in search of fame and fortune. This went on for four years.

Before long, Heather found herself reevaluating her life. Her thoughts turned toward God. After a series of events, Heather got out of the sex industry and returned to church. Two years after Heather’s conversion, she learned of the tragic death of a friend that died alone in the sex industry. Heather was deeply troubled and believed that while she had turned her heart to God, she had also turned her back on her friends. The seed for ministry was planted. Heather established the Christian ministry known as JCs (Jesus Christ’s) Girls and has been reaching out to women in strip clubs and porn conventions ever since.

Both Heather Veitch and Annie Lobért are recognized nationwide for their expertise and knowledge of the sex industry. They are collaborating on a project entitled “Saving Sex City.” Beginning December 1, 2007, they will be reaching out to men and women on the Las Vegas Strip every Saturday evening. Their approach is nonjudgmental. Their goal is to present a simple Gospel message, offer prayer and support, and extend an invitation to visit their church.

Heather says, “Christians should not be judgmental of people in the sex industry. There is no difference between a glutton and a stripper in God’s eyes – the glutton is just as much a sinner as the stripper. We’ve made strippers to be worse than we are.” Adds Annie, “The sex industry is a game. And unfortunately, many people lose the fight by selling themselves short of their true destiny. We are here to help win the fight.”
