About David W. Stewart, Ph.D.
Dr. Stewart has over 30 years in higher education, management and marketing consulting. He is the President’s Professor of Marketing and Law at the College of Business Administration-Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. He teaches, writes and consults in the areas of marketing and management. Dr. Stewart is affiliated with the Academy of Management, A.M.A., A.S.A., A.C.R., S.C.P., A.M.S., A.A.A. and was on the Board of Directors at the University Faculty Center from 1995 to 2000. He obtained a Ph.D. in Psychology from Baylor University and his undergraduate degree from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. He has previously held faculty and administrative appointments at Vanderbilt University, University of Southern California, and University of California, Riverside. Dr. Stewart is the current editor of the Journal of Public Policy and Marketing and is a past editor of both the Journal of Marketing and the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. He is the author of ten books and more than 250 journal articles. Dr. Stewart has been awarded the Elsevier Distinguished Marketing Scholar Award by the Society for Marketing Advances and the Cutco/Vector Distinguished Educator Award for lifetime contributions to marketing by the Academy of Marketing Science. He has also been awarded the American Academy of Advertising Award for Outstanding Contribution to Advertising Research for his long-term contributions to research in advertising. He received Chairman’s Award from the Riverside Chamber of Commerce for his work in developing a new economic strategy for the City. Dr. Stewart has received the Best Paper awards from the Journal of Public Policy Marketing and from the Journal of Advertising. He was appointed to Inland Empire District Export Council by the Secretary of Commerce from 2009 to 2012. He served on the Board of Directors of the American Marketing Association and American Marketing Association Foundation between 1997 and 1999. Dr. Stewart served as Chair for the Section on Statistics in Marketing of the American Statistical Association in 1997 and also served as Representative to Council for the American Psychological Association, elected by the Society for Consumer Psychology from 1989 to 1992 and 1997 to 1998.
