SpaCare Announces the "Hearts for a Cure" Annual Award & Charity Celebration 2008

SpaCare announces the "hearts for a cure" annual award & Charity celebration 2008 during the 3rd annual day Spa Expo & Business Forum at the Sands Exposition Center in Las Vegas, Nevada February 5 – 7, 2008

Union City, NJ, November 23, 2007 --(PR.com)-- SPACare, an organization created by The Day Spa Association and The International Medical Spa Association to be of assistance and to cultivate the philanthropic efforts of the Spa, Wellness, and Beauty industries, announces it will kick-off the “Healthy Skin Campaign” at a grand celebration during the Day Spa Expo, to be held in Las Vegas this coming February 2008. The Day Spa Expo, now in its’ third year, is the fastest growing national spa show in the country.

As leaders in the Beauty, Wellness, and Health industries from around the world congregate to learn about the latest trends in the industry, SPACare will generate excitement and increase awareness for the “Healthy Skin Campaign” and Melanoma Awareness Month in May 2008 at the celebration to be held during the convention. The gala event is expected to generate a lot of excitement and enthusiasm for the cause with live music and entertainment, delicious food, door prizes, and a silent auction. Attendees will have a chance to bid on such extravagant prizes as a trip to Hawaii and a flight on a hot air balloon.

The “Healthy Skin Campaign” which will run from May 2008 through October 2008 will begin with Melanoma Awareness month in May. As skincare professionals are often the first line of defense in discovering melanoma, the goal is to educate the public on the ABCs of Melanoma and how to prevent it. Monique Iacobbacci, the Director of SPACare will announce her “Start Spreading the News” campaign for Melanoma Awareness by inviting attendees to participate in these events and spread the news along with her by having their spas and salons offer promotions to customers by donating a portion of the treatment revenue for those clients who have healthy skin treatments during the month of May. SPACare’s goal is to raise $50,000 in donations for a research grant to the Melanoma Research Foundation. Monique feels that with this type of effort “Our voice will be larger and stronger because of a more concerted, amplified effort so that our time and money will count in a way that matters.”

SPACare’s mission is fourfold: 1) to unify, organize and manage industry-wide participation in community and national charitable activities; 2) to promote the industry’s concerns and partnerships with charitable organizations; 3) to reduce the impact of social, health and educational issues; and 4) to create a collective voice dedicated to supporting the philanthropic efforts necessary to positively impact the Spa, Wellness and Beauty community, the consumer, and those in need.

The Melanoma Research Foundation is one of the organizations that will be the recipient of the proceeds from this fundraiser and together we will be promoting this event throughout the nation. The public can join in the fight against melanoma by making a donation or attending the event on February 5th from 6:30 – 9:00 at the Sands Exposition Center. Tickets are $85 for members and $95 for non-members in advance and $125 at the door. Complimentary passes are available for members of the media. Call 973-800-9247 for more information.
