SunMedica Inc. Launches the New kneeGRIP Matrix
SunMedica, which has manufactured surgical positioning devices since 1988, is now using its expertise to change the way surgeons position their patients during a total knee arthroplasty (TKA), by introducing the kneeGRIP® Matrix.
Redding, CA, April 18, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The kneeGRIP® Matrix is an innovative leg holding device used for total knee arthroplasty. The kneeGRIP® Matrix is used in conjunction with SunMedica’s well-known kneeGRIP® System, which features an “Upright Support” and “Foot Support.”
The kneeGRIP® Matrix includes a “Matrix Boot,” designed with a “Knob” at the base of the Boot. The Knob is designed to fit into any of the two rows of conical holes within the “Matrix Plate.” The conical nature of the holes keep the Knob in place while allowing easy changing of placement of the Matrix Boot, relative to the Matrix Plate. The kneeGRIP® Matrix comes with special “Foam Kit” disposable memory foam pads that are placed within the boot so as to cradle the lower leg and foot.
Different from other knee positioners, the kneeGRIP® Matrix’s ability to quickly and easily move the Matrix Boot into different positions allows the surgeon to achieve the desired amount of flexion in the knee without the need of leavers, hinges or complex mechanical devices that can lead to failure. The kneeGRIP® Matrix does not use bars that would ground the device to the table, so it is electrically insulated. This eliminates the risk of an electric current traveling through the device, accidentally injuring the patient. The kneeGRIP® Matrix accommodates a variety of body types, is easy to setup and eases the overall surgical process.
