Sikhcess™ Announces Successful Distribution of 65,000-Plus Boxed Lunches to North America’s Homeless Community by Sikh Volunteers This Year
Sikh community bolsters previous efforts and completes largest initiative of its kind, delivering nearly 50,000 boxed lunches in a single night through its North America-wide “Feed the Homeless” campaign.
Detroit, MI, November 27, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Sikhcess, a community-service based organization dedicated to highlighting Sikh achievements and promoting the basic Sikh principle of public service, today announced that Sikh communities throughout North America have successfully distributed more than 65,000 food packages this year to the homeless and needy with nearly 50,000 delivered in a single night, the largest ever campaign of its kind. "We're genuinely grateful for the outpouring of support for this undertaking and would like to thank all the Sikh Gurudwaras (temples), volunteers, and food donors who helped to make this effort a resounding success", stated Mr. Amit Singh, Executive Director of Sikhcess. Through the efforts of Sikh community groups in cities across the United States and Canada, this initiative has led to the biggest-ever single day distribution of nearly 50,000 food packages to the needy.
"This could not have been done without the strength of the volunteer force that quickly mobilized to help make this a tremendous achievement", continued Mr. Singh. We are especially impressed by the diligence and organizational skills of our City Executives, who spearheaded our "Feed the Homeless" campaign in each of the cities.
The cities served by the Sikhcess campaign were the following:

In Vancouver, Canada, Sikh community groups are planning further distribution of food with a prolonged, five-day "Guru Nanak's Free Kitchen" campaign, expected to feed thousands of homeless and the needy. Sponsored by five major Sikh Gurudwaras in the Greater Vancouver region, the campaign will commence on Monday, November 26th and conclude on Saturday, December 1st.
Working to address homeless hunger, the Sikh community is taking "Langar" (Free Kitchen) to those on the streets. In order to do this, Sikhcess does not accept financial donations, but instead, receives a generous assortment of groceries, dessert items, drinks, and even clothing for distribution to the homeless. Inquiries for donations of food and supplies for distribution to the homeless should be directed to Donations@Sikhcess.com or to Mr. Amit Singh at 248-990-1245.
