Creative Sign Designs Shines in First Place at the 2015 International Sign Contest
Signs of the Times Magazine Hosts Twelfth-Annual Unified Contest Featuring Diverse and Competitive Categories
Tampa, FL, April 23, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Creative Sign Designs, a full-service sign company with headquarters in Tampa, FL, was recognized three times in the 2015 International Sign Design Contest featured in the April issue of Signs of the Times magazine.
Creative won first place in the electric monument signs category, with its entry of the Tradition Center for Innovation located in Port Saint Lucie, FL. The 21-foot-tall, illuminated monument was designed by Creative’s Master Designer John Cash.
The monument design consists of an internally-illuminated sign cabinet with removable copy panels and intricate sculpture of an atom, which is illuminated by a digital controller that allows each ellipse to present multiple colors in motion. The atom design, equally impressive when not illuminated, uniquely features the outline of the state of Florida. The TCI campus is home to Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies, Vaccine and Gene Therapy Institute, Martin Health System and Mann Research Center.
In the category of electric building signs, Creative received honorable mention for its work on the Capitol Theater located in Clearwater, FL. The sign cabinet design is a back-lit crown, vertical scroll work and custom CAPITOL channel letters. The sign features an exposed LED bulb channel border with a flash-chase effect and the ability to synchronize the multi-color effects.
The exterior, 20-foot-tall, illuminated, blade sign was installed as part of the $9 million renovation of the landmark theater - a partner effort of the City of Clearwater, Ruth Eckerd Hall Inc. and Capitol Theater. Creative Sign Designs provided design, fabrication, project management and installation of all new interior and exterior signage for the theatre.
In the third-annual readers’ choice award for most popular sign, Creative came in close second with its entry of the TCI Campus – first-place winner of the electric monument signs category. Peacock Loop Diner, located in St. Louis, designed by Piros’ Signs won the category by a slim margin of 122 votes. Each of the entries received more than 5,000 votes, doubling the participation in this survey from last year with a total of 17,745 tallies recorded.
The 2015 International Sign Contest transitioned to a unified contest in 2003 rather than a separate contest for electric and non-electric entries. In 2007, it further separated the vehicle wraps category. This year’s contest received a total of 350 entries for all categories combined, a 12-percent increase from the previous year.
The contest was hosted in Versailles, KY by local company Ruggles Signs in its recently renovated 160,000 sq. foot facility. Judges included Josh Duddey, EOP architect based in Lexington; Greg Richardson, lead fabricator at Ruggles Signs; Robert Stone, senior designer at Ruggles Signs; and Carly Cambron, daughter to owners of Ruggles Signs and Univ. of South Carolina art-education degree graduate.
