Berea Business and Professional Women Selects 2015 Woman of the Year

Berea Business and Professional Women (BPW) - Celebrating 75 years of empowering women personally, professionally, and politically.

Cleveland, OH, April 23, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Berea BPW has been presenting the Woman of the Year award since 1953. This award is bestowed upon a woman who has made significant contributions to the organization during the federation year. Criteria for consideration are varied and include leadership skills, legislation awareness, holding a leadership position and attendance at region and state meetings to name a few. The selection committee is comprised of the Women of the Year for the past five years. This year’s committee was comprised of the following members: Daneene Monroe Rusnak, Chair (2014), Sharon McTigue (2013), Nancy Jirousek (2012), Nancy Heileman (2011) and Bonnie Crall (2010).

This year’s honoree was Charisse Kellums who has been a member of Berea BPW for over 20 years and has participated in leadership positions for BPW at the local, region and state levels. Chairs held and committees belonged to throughout those levels include Pick 3, Young Careerist, Individual Development, Public Relations, State Conference, Telephone, Scholarship, Finance and Safe and Sound, to name a few.

As the Conference Chair for an unprecedented three years in a row, it is clear to see the level of dedication and commitment she possesses. Under her direction, the signature BPW Individual Development program has grown and flourished and taken on a fresh look and feel and she has empowered and encouraged others to continue that trend.

An exemplary member, Charisse serves as a role model and mentor and is the embodiment of everything that BPW stands for. Well known for her phenomenal networking abilities, it has been said that any guest attending a meeting and sitting at her table, no doubt leaves with a wonderful impression of our organization. Known for saying “It’s not who you know but WHAT you know about who you know”......here’s what we know about her.....she is a spirited and dedicated woman who has undoubtedly helped this organization thrive and grow.
