Lenovo’s North American Headquarters Achieves LEED Gold Certification

Global technology company and sustainability thought leader achieves corporate green building status.

Research Triangle Park, NC, April 24, 2015 --(PR.com)-- In celebration of Earth Day, Lenovo (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY) has announced that its Perimeter Park campus in Morrisville, North Carolina, home to its North American headquarters, recently achieved LEED Gold certification, an international hallmark of sustainability excellence in building design and construction. The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) awarded the certification due to Lenovo’s global thought leadership in sustainability, operations management and environmental protection measures, in addition to exceptionally high marks in the following categories: sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources and indoor environmental quality.

This landmark accomplishment sets an example for corporate sustainability nationwide and further showcases Lenovo’s commitment to integrating sustainability in every facet of its business. In order to support the North American headquarters’ LEED Gold Certification, Lenovo:
- Encouraged the use of alternative transportation methods, which employees did 22.2 percent of the time, helping earn Sustainable Site credits.
- Installed a water purification system to building cooling towers to reduce water usage and waste.
- Retrofitted urinals and faucet aerators, resulting in a savings of 530,300 gallons of water, pushing the project to the highest tier of savings for USGBC’s rating system.
- Retrofitted lighting and optimized building automation systems to achieve Energy Star scores outperforming nearly 78 percent of all similar buildings.

Lenovo’s commitment to promoting corporate social responsibility guides all company efforts to build a more sustainable future. For more information on the sustainability practices driving the North American headquarters’ LEED Gold certification, visit http://lnv.gy/1isKaUk.
