Philadelphia, PA, April 26, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick visited Laboratory Testing Inc. (LTI) on Monday, April 20, 2015 to see firsthand how the company supports the production of aircraft carriers and to learn about materials testing and calibration services. He took the opportunity to tour the facilities and meet with the company owners and employees.
Laboratory Testing Inc. is a member of the Aircraft Carrier Industrial Base Coalition (ACIBC) and had the opportunity to meet with the Congressman in Washington, D.C. during ACIBC Action Days in March. The event is organized to give member organizations the opportunity to urge their Members of Congress to provide uninterrupted federal funding support for the US Navy aircraft carrier program.
LTI is a supplier of materials testing services to manufacturers of raw materials and component parts used in the construction of aircraft carriers. “Both from a national security standpoint, and as a supplier of materials testing services to the military industry, LTI has a vital interest in continuation of the program,” said Mike McVaugh, president of the Lab.
Congressman Fitzpatrick supports defense spending to maintain a U.S. Navy Fleet of at least 11 aircraft carriers, consistent with national security requirements. He showed his support for this program by signing a letter from Members of Congress to the Secretary of Defense emphasizing not only the legal reasons for maintaining a fleet, but also the need for America to maintain its naval superiority.
The Aircraft Carrier Industrial Base Coalition was established in 2004 to preserve the strength of the aircraft carrier force as a critical part of the nation’s defense structure. The organization currently represents about 400 businesses that supply services and components for U. S. Navy aircraft carriers.
