Janet L. Mitchell, of Glendora, California, is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Pasadena City College and an Adjunct Professor at Citrus College. Professor Mitchell is also an Educator Specialist at Mt. Baldy School. Professor Mitchell earned an Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies at Pasadena City College, a Bachelor of Arts in English, an M.A. in English and a second M.A. in TESOL from the University of California at Los Angeles. Ms. Mitchell’s experience in education includes teaching at Crenshaw LEARN Charter High School from 1993-2001. She was a curriculum writer and instructor of teacher credentialing courses in the Los Angeles Unified School District Internship Program from 1997-2003 and began working as an Adjunct Instructor at the Community College level in 2002; in addition to where she is currently teaching, Professor Mitchell has also worked at East Los Angeles College and Glendale Community College and includes being a Teaching Coordinator and Instructor at The Learning Collective. Ms. Mitchell’s numerous honors and awards include a nomination for Teacher of the Year at PCC, being published in Michelle Pacansky-Brock’s How to Humanize Your On-Line Class with VoiceThread, helping produce Stretch Acceleration courses at PCC, membership in Who’s Who of American Teachers, the Golden Apple Award for Best Practices, the Copeland Award from Pasadena City College, as well as being selected as a Strathmore’s Who’s Who 2014 Professional of the Year. Her selected publications and conferences include: The California Online Education Initiative; Canvas Pedagogy Instructor; A World of Ideas,” Lee A. Jacobs, Book Review, 2014.
