AIMS Italian Culinary Expo

AIMS recently organized a first-of-its-kind Italian Cuisine Expo in Bangalore where students and delegates got to learn exciting new Italian recipes from first hand interaction with Chefs from Italy! This event brought Chefs of international repute who introduced the intricacies of Italian cusine to the delegates. The two-day event also included related activities such as quiz, talk shows and presentation.

Bangalore, India, April 30, 2015 --(PR.com)-- AIMS School of Hospitality and Tourism (AIMS Institutes) held a two day culinary fest on the 25th and 26th of March at AIMS campus in Peenya, Bangalore. The event was open to students, faculty members, professional chefs and food lovers from all over India. It focused on Italian cuisine with renowned Italian and Indian Master Chefs presenting cooking demos for everyone in attendance. The expo was a joint collaboration between AIMS and ALMA, Italy which is a leading training and culinary institute for Italian Cuisine located in Parma, Italy.

The culinary fair was the first of its kind event to take place in Karnataka and gave students, faculty and professionals in the food industry the opportunity to learn about Italian cuisine from Master Chefs. It aimed to create a communal atmosphere for all participants to mingle and interact with the chefs as well as learn about the opportunities that Italian cuisine creates for developing culinary skills and knowledge.

The culinary expo was inaugurated by former Minister B.K. Chandrashekhar and the AIMS Institute’s founder and CEO, Dr. Kiran Reddy also headed the event’s proceedings. The chefs presenting at the event were Chef Antonio Tardi, who has opened hotels in the Caribbean, Italy and Asia, Chef Cristian Broglia, a teaching staff member at ALMA and Chef Armando Di Filippo – Executive Chef at Moevenpick Hotel & Spa in Bangalore. Multiple award winning Indian Chef Manish Mehrotra also showcased his skills at the expo. Chef Abhijith Saha, pioneer of Saha restaurant in Singapore also participated in the event.

The expo activities during the two days included separate quiz competitions on Italian cuisine for Hotel Management students and professionals in the food industry. Cookery competitions were also held for the participants. There was a special block of time where students had the opportunity to network with other students, Chefs and professionals in the industry. Cookery shows and cooking demos by celebrity Chefs were the highlight of the culinary expo as they were open to the public. The celebration of Italian cuisine ended with a prize distribution ceremony for all the expo participants.

The special event is a result of a partnership between AIMS and ALMA. AIMS offers several programmes in the culinary field that includes a dual degree that results in a Bachelor of Hospitality and Event Management and a year-long stay in Italy in order to receive a degree in Italian Cuisine from ALMA. ALMA is globally considered amongst the leading universities in fine dining and Italian cuisine.
