Global Chelants Market to Surpass USD5.4 Billion by 2020 Says TechSci Research
Increasing production activities in end use industries coupled with increasing industrialization to drive global chelants market through 2020.
Burnaby, Canada, May 01, 2015 --(PR.com)-- According to a recently published report by TechSci Research, “Global Chelants Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2020”, global chelants market is projected to cross USD5.4 billion by 2020. Demand for chelating agents is increasing primarily on account of industrialization, and growth in end use industries such as textile, detergent, pulp & paper, food & beverage, and water treatment, among others. Since, production in these end use industries is witnessing comparatively lower growth in the Americas and Europe, majority of demand for chelants is arising from Asia-Pacific.
Globally, the detergent industry is the largest consumer of chelating agents. Metal ions such as calcium, magnesium and iron, obstruct the cleaning ability of detergents. Chelating agents form co-ordinate bonds with these metal ions and decrease the consumption of surfactants by them. Some of the most commonly used chelants in detergent industry are phosphates, EDTA, sodium citrate and zeolite compounds. Developing countries such as China, India, and other Asian countries, are expected to drive the consumption of detergents over the next five years. Consequently, consumption of chelating agents in these countries would continue to grow. In 2014, Asia-Pacific was the largest consumer of chelants across the globe, due to increasing production activities in end-use industries in this region.
Among the three types of chelants, the consumption of aminopolycarboxylic acid is the highest across the globe. However, due to harmful effects of aminopolycarboxylic acid on aquatic life and mammals, consumers are shifting towards biodegradable chelating agents. Therefore, in order to increase sales, manufacturers are focusing towards development of innovative products, which are biodegradable and do not affect aquatic life or the environment upon being released in the atmosphere.
“Detergent industry is the largest consumer of chelants across the globe. In 2014, detergent industry accounted for majority of consumption of chelating agents across the globe, and the same trend is expected to continue over the forecast period,” said Mr. Karan Chechi, Research Director with TechSci Research, a research based global management consulting firm.
