Mothers Who Make A Difference 2015 - 10th Annual Awards

May 10th is a time to celebrate mothers around the world –it’s Mother’s Day.

New York, NY, May 02, 2015 --(PR.com)-- With child abuse and neglect on the rise, this is an especially important time to recognize loving moms in our country.

Love Our Children USA™ the national "go-to' prevention organization fighting violence against children takes pride in announcing the recipient of the 10th Annual Mothers Who Make A Difference Awards, recognizing celebrity mothers for balancing motherhood, work and causes.

Celebrity moms who love, nurture, and carry out selfless acts, yet still find time to give to others are the mothers who are recognized for this annual award.

This year’s winner is celebrity mom Drew Barrymore who is a mother, wife, actress, model, director, author and philanthropist. She has two daughters under the age of four.

Ross Ellis, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Love Our Children USA said, “Celebrities are asked to be involved with charities on a daily basis. While they can’t give their time and money to every charity, most celebrities select one or two causes that they truly believe in and are the do-gooders for those charities. They balance all of this with home, family and work.”

Drew Barrymore is a descendant of the Barrymore family of well-known American stage and cinema actors, and is a granddaughter of film legend John Barrymore. Barrymore first appeared in an advertisement when she was eleven months old. In 1980, she made her film debut in Altered States. In 1982, she starred in her breakout role as Gertie in Steven Spielberg's E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and quickly became one of Hollywood's most recognized child actresses, going on to establish herself in mainly comic roles.

She successfully made the transition from child star to adult actress with a number of films including Poison Ivy, Bad Girls, Boys on the Side and Everyone Says I Love You. Subsequently, she also starred in romantic comedies, such as The Wedding Singer.

In 1997, she and her business partner Nancy Juvonen formed the production company Flower Films, and have produced films such as Never Been Kissed, Charlie's Angels, 50 First Dates and Music and Lyrics, as well as the cult film Donnie Darko. Barrymore's more recent projects include He's Just Not That Into You, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, Everybody's Fine and Going the Distance. A recipient of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Barrymore appeared on the cover of the 2007 People magazine's 100 Most Beautiful issue.

Barrymore was named an Ambassador Against Hunger for the UN World Food Programme (WFP). Since then, she has donated over $1 million to the program. In 2007, she became both CoverGirl's newest model and spokeswoman and the face for Gucci's newest jewelry line. In 2010, she won the Screen Actors Guild Award and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Television Film for her portrayal of Little Edie in Grey Gardens.

She is also involved with the following charity organizations: ASPCA, Baby2Baby, Declare Yourself, Much Love Animal Rescue, Onyx and Breezy Foundation, Raising Malawi, Red Cross, The Rescue Train, and UNICEF.

Drew Barrymore will receive a crystal heart award designed specifically for Love Our Children USA by the illustrious crystal designers FineAwards.com. Love Our Children USA wish her a Happy Mothers’ Day and congratulate her and all mothers who make a difference for children.
