Broward Meals on Wheels to Celebrate Volunteers at 7th Annual Appreciation Luncheon
Proceeds/Sponsorships to Benefit Broward Meals on Wheels Programs
Plantation, FL, May 07, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Members of the South Florida community are invited to attend Broward Meals on Wheels’ Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on May 15, 2015. Celebrating nearly 500 individuals who donate the gift of time to their mission, Broward Meals on Wheels is hosting the garden party-themed event from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Woodlands Country Club, located at 4600 Woodlands Boulevard in Tamarac.
The luncheon will feature an Italian buffet, award ceremony, entertainment and more. Proceeds/sponsorships will benefit Broward Meals on Wheels, which improves health, reduces isolation and promotes independent living for seniors in the community.
The volunteer team at Broward Meals on Wheels assists the organization by delivering meals to homebound clients, provides grocery shopping assistance to seniors who are unable to shop for themselves, performs office duties and more. Volunteers also spearhead the Meals for Companion Pets Program, which delivers pet food once a month to home-bound seniors who need assistance taking care of their animals. Pet food is provided through the generosity of community donors like Banfield Pet Hospital, Hollywood Animal Hospital and PetSmart.
Broward Meals on Wheels is part of a national network, Meals on Wheels America, the only national organization and network dedicated solely to ending senior hunger in America. The Association is the oldest and largest organization composed of and representing local, community-based Senior Nutrition Programs in all 50 states and U.S. territories.
“The volunteer appreciation luncheon was designed to recognize volunteers as the backbone of our organization,” said Mark Adler, executive director of Broward Meals on Wheels. “It is our dedicated volunteer team of nearly 500 individuals that deliver not only thousands of meals a day county-wide, but also the friendly smile and safety check that enable seniors to remain independent in their own homes.”
Current financial sponsors include: A.H.S Income Tax Systems, Catholic Charities of Wilton Manors, Edward Jones Investments, FPL, Greentree Financial Group, Merit Pharmacy, Nationwide Auto Guard, Nature’s Products, Senior Medical Associates, Speedy Print and United Health Group.
Individual tickets are free for all organization volunteers; $25 at the door or online for guests and non-volunteers. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit www.bmow.org or call 954.714.6922.
