NECTFL to Announce Recipient of SANS Inc. /Mead Leadership 2015 Program Award

Washington, DC, May 07, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The award to the fellowship recipient of the 2015 SANS Inc. /Mead Leadership Program will be formally announced this week during the Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (NECTFL) awards luncheon, taking place in Washington, D.C., as part of the JNCL-NCLIS 2015 Language Advocacy Day events. SANS’ focus is continued development of instructional technologies for language learning, including the SANSSpace™ virtual language learning platform and Virtuoso™ and Soloist® digital language lab software suite. SANS has been a sponsor of this program for eight years.

This year’s fellow is Claudette C. Moran, a teacher of Spanish at Newmarket (NH) Junior-Senior High School.

The SANS Inc. /Mead Leadership Program supports foreign language teacher-leaders by recognizing their potential to contribute to the improvement of world language education. Mead Fellows are selected in part for the quality of the projects they propose. The plan of action for each project is developed in conjunction with a mentor, and progress is reported by the Fellow at subsequent state association and NECTFL conferences.

“SANS reveres language educators that are engaging their students in 21st century learning,” said SANS president Ron Remschel. “Having the SANS Inc. /Mead award given to a forward thinking world language educator on Language Advocacy Day is very special. We congratulate Claudette Moran, this year’s fellowship recipient.”

The Northeast Conference has long been committed to developing leaders for the profession from all instructional levels and languages. According to Rebecca Kline, NECTFL’s director, “The SANS Inc./Mead Fellowships constitute our signature program for ensuring that world language educators across the region have models to emulate and that effective leadership is exercised in schools, districts, colleges, universities, communities, and professional associations. The tangible support provided by SANS Inc. has allowed NECTFL to maximize the impact of its efforts by creating fellowships for future leaders from a broad range of diverse academic contexts.”
