Family Seeks to Craft a New Beer Business in the Heart of Baltimore

After the upheaval that Baltimore has faced recently, four Baltimore men (and family members) are attempting to craft a new beer and bring business to the heart of the city they love.

Baltimore, MD, May 08, 2015 --(PR.com)-- With so much turmoil, negativity, and civil unrest permeating about the city of Baltimore, something good is brewing. A group of four men, all Baltimore-born and raised, are attempting to raise funds to get their new business up and running in the city they love. That business is Seks Beer.

These men, family members Michael and Greg Pappas, Billy Bartholomew, and Jack Long, began their quest to begin the college-humor-themed beer by applying for the trademark exactly one year ago. It took a full year of planning and tasting “research” to get to the point where they could launch their IndieGoGo fundraising campaign, found at igg.me/at/SeksBeer. IndieGoGo is much like Kickstarter, popular websites wherein regular people help fund various ventures, including films, books, inventions, and yes, beer startups. The partners are seeking to raise $89,000 by the end of June and make their mark in a thriving craft beer market.

“It’s been a long road, and we’re not there yet, but we’d be thrilled to bring a quality product -and a fun one at that- to the city,” Long said with a wry smile.

Michael Pappas added, “Baltimore needs good things to happen. Having a startup business in the heart of those communities that’ve been most affected- will bring actual jobs. That’s about as positive as it gets.”

Are there concerns about building a business in a city whose local businesses were set fire to, looted, and damaged just recently?

“It’d be foolish to say that there were no concerns,” Bartholomew confessed, “but we believe the future is bright in Baltimore. I’m not sales-pitching either. We’re genuinely excited about this. I mean, isn’t opportunity at the heart of what everyone wants? The wonderful thing is that if our opportunity comes through, it’ll impact not just us and our families, but many others here in the city. That’s something special. That’s what we’re striving for.”

The campaign has already begun. If you’d like to contribute or have questions, please visit SeksBeer.com or go directly to igg.me/at/SeksBeer.
