Solar Innovations, Inc., a custom manufacturer of residential and commercial sliding, folding, and stacking glass walls, doors, windows, and screens; conservatories; sunrooms; greenhouses; skylights; and curtain walls; has launched a series of environmental sustainability initiatives.
Pine Grove, PA, May 11, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Solar Innovations, Inc. has partnered with the Schuylkill Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited to begin a stream restoration project for the section of the Swopes Valley Run that flows through Solar Innovations, Inc.’s corporate campus. The stream is a tributary of Swatara Creek, which in turn is a tributary of the Susquehanna River. Solar Innovations, Inc. and its sister company, Innovative Reel Technologies®, have worked with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and Schuylkill Valley Conservation District to carefully develop a preservation plan..
“Solar Innovations, Inc.’s corporate office and manufacturing facility achieved a LEED Gold Certification in 2011 and our team members have worked diligently to maintain a green philosophy as a core piece of our corporate culture. We’re excited to begin the next phase of our corporate initiative by restoring our surrounding landscape and working to enhance the habitat for natural wildlife,” explained Marketing Manager, Melissa Reinhart.
Solar team members will be involved in the restoration process, with an emphasis being placed on the protection of local water ways for both wildlife and recreational use. Through the restoration process, the group hopes to improve the stream to support the natural reproduction of trout and other organisms. By creating a self-sustaining ecosystem in the restored section of the stream, the hope is that natural reproduction will increase and spread across the waterway.
“Our goal has always been to serve as a pillar of the community by demonstrating our dedication to environmental sustainability through the Company’s actions, purchases, decisions, and manufacturing processes. We hope that local residents, especially the area’s youth, can learn from these initiatives and sustain our natural resources for generations to come,” explained Solar Innovations, Inc. President, Greg Header.
Solar Innovations, Inc. recently sponsored a fishing rodeo in conjunction with Trout Unlimited. By its actions, Solar Innovations, Inc. has proven its dedication to the environment and local community from both a philosophical and financial standpoint. In addition to the company recycling 98% of their waste, the installation of 2,000+ solar panels, and the adherence to LEED guidelines, Solar hopes to further educate the community at large on the importance of green practices. The recent initiatives undertaken are further evidence of Solar Innovations, Inc.’s dedication to environmental sustainability and “living and working green,” a core value of the company.
