Women in Coffee Film Event: “A Small Section of the World”
San Diego, CA, May 11, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The San Diego Coffee Network in conjunction with sponsors Earth’s Choice, Daymar Coffee and PureFlo, will be screening the film “A Small Section of the World” at Balboa Park’s Museum of Photographic Arts, Wednesday, May 20.
Doors open for a pre-event mixer at 6 p.m. with the film beginning at 7:30 p.m. Five-dollars of every ticket will go to the Earth’s Choice Women of Coffee Microfinance Fund. Woman-sourced organic coffees will be roasted and prepared fresh for guests by Daymar Coffee using PureFlo premium filtered water. Pastries will also be provided.
From the award winning producer of “Waiting for ‘Superman,’” comes “A Small Section of the World,” an inspirational documentary of a community of women in Costa Rica who, against the odds, saw an opportunity to bring prosperity and sustainability to their community.
Earth's Choice Organic Coffee Company and Women of Coffee Microfinance Fund are committed to providing a creative and sustainable approach to achieve women's economic equality and stability.
Earth’s Choice partners with local organizations and businesses to bring microfinance services to woman organic coffee producers who invest their business loans in new or current ventures. Their business earnings repay the loans and provide support for health, nutrition and education for their families and communities.
Earth’s Choice coffee is sourced from Chiapas and Guatemala. This film event is the first collaboration between Daymar Coffee Roasters, Pureflo Water and the San Diego Coffee Network.
Daymar Coffee has been roasting artisan coffee locally since 1980, and is proud to not only partner with Earth’s Choice, but to also sponsor the coffee for events like this that serve to educate and promote sustainability in local and global communities. Daymar is organically certified and a proud member of the Specialty Coffee Association of America.
“Being able to support local business, while bringing awareness and global impact is what it’s all about!” said Kelly Crosby, sales and coffee manager at PureFlo.
This is the second educational and social film event the San Diego Coffee Network has organized. The Network hopes to lend legitimacy to San Diego as a true coffee city and help further solidify San Diego as the “Conscious Corner of Coffee” in the U.S.
