Big Hopes to End Skin Bleaching Starts with Global Campaign
Today, new skin care company MySkinBright® is launching a social media campaign encouraging women world wide to stop the practice of skin bleaching and skin lightening and to instead - love the skin they're in. Women of all races, nationalities, and creed are sharing their video affirmation of self-love in the “Love the Skin You’re In” onlinel challenge.
Atlanta, GA, May 11, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Darker-skinned women around the world are often made to feel less beautiful and desirable in societies where lighter skin is preferred, and the "Love The Skin You're In" social media campaign by MySkinBright® aims to do something about it.
Skin bleaching, skin lightening, and skin whitening not only come with harmful side effects, they have negative impacts on the psyche of women and girls in India, Africa, the Caribbean, and more. To counter these false conceptions of lighter skin being better, each participant in the online challenge makes a short video publicly affirming their love for the skin they're in, then they share the video across their respective social media networks and challenge others to do the same. Some participants openly talk about their feelings on colorism and false beauty ideals, giving voice to what has often been silent shame.
"We're more than just a new skincare company pushing skin brightening products," founder Sophie Clark says. "We're on a mission for change. When people see our branding they will know what we're about, and it’s not just helping their skin look good, but also making them feel good about the skin they're in. All skin colors are beautiful."
MySkinBright® is at the front line of the battle against skin bleaching, skin lightening, and skin whitening, and the war cry has been heard.
