Atlantic Shores Spring Home & Garden Tour to Spotlight Art, Music and Cuisine
Free Annual Event Features Victory Garden Tour, and Lakeside Gazebo Party with Top Local Jazz Band
Virginia Beach, VA, May 14, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Both a house party and a garden party, the 2015 Atlantic Shores Spring Home & Garden Tour will capture spring in full bloom on Friday, May 15, from 11am-3pm, rain or shine, at Atlantic Shores Retirement Community (1200 Atlantic Shores Drive, Virginia Beach).
Returning for its fifth annual year, this popular free event will feature tours of six beautiful homes within Atlantic Shores Retirement Community, showcasing interior decor, and both indoor and outdoor floral designs.
Guests will be transported within the 100-acre neighborhood by a fleet of golf carts and shuttles -- one of which will offer continuous community-wide landscaping tours, spotlighting gardens, nature and wildlife.
Weather permitting, tours of the residents’ Victory Garden will also be conducted, complete with a grown up lemonade stand with raspberries (vodka optional).
In addition to the natural beauty, galleries will be set up in a select villa, as well as in the community’s Azalea and Gardenia Rooms, to spotlight artwork from Atlantic Shores resident artists. Original pieces on display will include oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings, photography, pastel and pencil designs, and fused glass. Live music by guitarist (and Atlantic Shores groundskeeper) Mark Pettiford will also add to the festive mood.
Guests will enjoy tasting stations set up throughout the tour, featuring exceptional specialty dishes prepared by Atlantic Shores’ award-winning chefs, paired with accompanying wines and cocktails.
Featured cuisine will include: Pork carnitas with jicama slaw; pineapple teriyaki steak; grilled salmon with charred fennel and tomato; tri-colored quinoa and sesame crusted avocado-lime aioli Moroccan spiced mango salsa; watermelon and asparagus salads; and chilled soup. Fresh produce from the community’s Victory Garden will also be featured, including fresh herb and mascarpone stuffed strawberries.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., guests will also get the chance to personally meet Tony Macrini, host of The Macrini Morning News Team on WNIS-AM, as he broadcasts live from the event and conducts free prize giveaways.
The event will conclude with an outdoor party at Atlantic Shores’ beautiful new screened Gazebo on the shores of Red Wing Lake, complete with a buffet with wine selections, and lakeside fun with corn hole and horseshoe games. A live performance by the Licita Jazz Trio, Norfolk’s newest and hottest jazz, blues and soul band, will also keep guests on their toes -- dancing to soulful classics, and imaginative covers of today’s best jazz hits http://www.elizabethjoyterrell.com/licita.
