Popular bar continues new neighborhood tradition for good cause.
Olivers Astoria is bringing Cornhole back to Broadway on Sunday, May 31 with the 2nd Annual Charity Cornhole Tournament benefiting the Queens Centers for Progress. Sixteen two-person teams will compete in the popular bag-tossing game for prizes in a four-round, single elimination tournament format.
“We had such a great response last year and we’re proud to continue this new tradition and help out in the community,” said Patrick Schmidt, Director of Operations for HK Hospitality, Olivers Astoria’s parent company.
The bags start flying at 3PM when the first round begins. The first three rounds are best of three games with the fourth championship round being the best of five. With discounted drink and appetizer specials during the event for competitors and spectators, everybody is a winner.
Team registration is $50 per team with proceeds benefiting Queens Centers for Progress, a local organization dedicated to helping children and adults with developmental disabilities. Teams can register at http://astoriatourney.eventbrite.com or http://oliversastoria.com/cornhole.
