Best Western For A Better World Donates $7,500 to Surfers for Autism
Fort Myers Beach, FL, May 16, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Best Western For A Better World® recently donated $7,500 to Surfers for Autism, whose mission is to unlock the potential of people with developmental delays, support advocacy for autism issues and scientific research with surfing events throughout the Southeastern United States. Surfers for Autism hosts a free annual surfing event on Fort Myers Beach that attracts hundreds of surfers.
Tim Malbon, Managing General Partner of The BEST WESTERN PLUS Beach Resort on Fort Myers Beach nominated Surfers for Autism for the award. Malbon has a 16 year old son with a developmental disability. “Many kids on the autism spectrum don’t have opportunities to participate in typical activities like soccer, baseball and play dates,” said Malbon. “Families hesitate to take their children into the community because of the reactions of strangers to their unusual behaviors. But Surfers for Autism is a judgment-free event. Families can relax knowing that everyone will welcome them.”
The BEST WESTERN PLUS Beach Resort hosts a free annual pre-event barbecue for surfers, their families and volunteers. The resort also reserves all of the rooms for Surfers for Autism weekend for participants. The 5th annual Surfers for Autism Gulf Coast Beach Festival will take place on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Crescent Beach Park on Fort Myers Beach.
