Mesa, AZ, May 20, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Dr. Gary A. Robison completed humanitarian service work in Guatemala City, Guatemala with a brigada called Smiles for Central America for young adults (16-25). In this brigada the youth experienced all medical and dental checks. Some traveled a day or more to receive services, in addition to, many youth from the around the area of the clinic were treated. Here are a few pictures from his big adventure.
The purpose of Smiles for Central America is to provide dental and medical services for young men and adult females in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Panama, and Nicaragua to help train them to serve full-time License in Dental Surgery (LDS) missions. More than twenty-two humanitarian clinics have been held in five countries. Twice a year, teams of dental and medical professionals and other unpaid workers are formed to travel to Central America to take part in the Smiles for Central America expeditions. Sometimes clinics are set-up in old buses. No matter where the clinic is set-up, each clinic begins by transporting necessary equipment stored in Honduras to the country in which the service work will be done. After everything is in place, the brigada begins changing smiles and changing lives. More than 7,000 future missionaries have been treated and hundreds of volunteers have participated. Volunteers who have served with Smiles for Central America often call their service a "life-changing experience."
Another significant part of Smiles for Central America’s mission is to provide community service. The organizations desire is to provide hope, love, and support for neighbors in Central America, and expeditions include a variety of community service projects for orphanages, children's cancer hospitals, maternity hospitals, a dental school, and families in need.
