Donation Presented to The Gateway Family YMCA- Rahway Branch

Linden, NJ, May 29, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Northfield Bank presented a generous donation to The Gateway Family YMCA – Rahway Branch for a naming opportunity in the cardiovascular fitness center at the recently renovated YMCA facility, 1564 Irving Street, Rahway. The donation was presented by Michael Widmer, EVP of Operations and Elsa M. Muniz, Vice President of Northfield Bank and YMCA Board Member, to Krystal R. Canady, CEO and Rodger D. Koerber, Rahway Branch Executive, The Gateway Family YMCA. This will provide an opportunity for Northfield Bank to showcase their dedication to the community and the YMCA.

Naming opportunities provide donors the opportunity to create a presence within the Rahway Branch. The $3.4 million, 16,938 square foot renovation provides countless opportunities for The Gateway Family YMCA to further the Y’s mission and address the unique needs of the community. The extensive renovation project enabled the YMCA to return the 3 floors of the Rahway Branch that sustained significant fire damage to the community, while adding a new elevator and handicap accessibility. As part of the expansive renovation project, naming opportunities exist for members, individuals and businesses in the community throughout the facility and exterior.

Every day, The Gateway Family YMCA works to support the people and neighborhoods that need it most by addressing community issues. The Gateway Family YMCA uses financial gifts to help individuals and families in need participate in programs such as: Early Learning Readiness - school readiness, Diabetes Prevention Program - chronic disease prevention, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA – cancer survivors, employment skills training, teen leadership programs, supportive housing and social services in Elizabeth, Rahway and Union. “As a charity, we ‘re dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving the nation’s health and well-being, and giving back and providing support to our neighbors,” stated Krystal R. Canady, CEO. “Our community partners help provide funds that support our mission and Northfield Bank has been a great supporter of our YMCA.”

The Y is more than a gym. It’s a cause. From Exercise to Education, from Health to Housing, from Volleyball to Volunteerism, from Preschool to Preventive Health, the Y doesn’t just strengthen bodies– it strengthens people, families and communities. “The renovations at the Rahway Branch have provided us a unique opportunity to showcase our community partners who are dedicated to helping those we serve through naming opportunities, capital donations and a courtyard brick campaign at the Rahway Branch,” stated Melynda A. Mileski, EVP/COO of The Gateway Family YMCA.
