Toronto, Canada, May 22, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Circus North is hosting a series of spectacular events in the Distillery District from May 21st to 24th. From developmental workshops and art exhibitions to creative performances and high-tech fashion, Circus North aims to explore the newest frontiers of art, performance and technology affecting the world of circus.
“I think a little bit of circus can be found in every aspect of our daily lives,” says Andrew Miller, Festival Director and General Manager of Circus North. “We want to show the general public just how many different styles and ways of doing circus there are in the world.”
Circus North has been able to extend its support to the circus and arts community, while also making a charitable impact thanks to sponsors like The Distillery District, Artscape and Make Up For Ever, along with partners such as the Canadian Diabetes Association. Among numerous other events running throughout the month of May, Circus North is proud to highlight Cirque-It, Focus on Finland, and the Twilight Masque Ball. The events taking place this weekend are distinctly unique, each providing a different perspective on the theme of circus.
Cirque-It
Cirque-It, a wearable-tech fashion experience, will take place at 12 Trinity Street on May 21st, starting at 7pm. The 19+ event celebrates the collaborative efforts of fashion designers, circus performers and the creators of “wearable-technology”, who have teamed up to present interactive, sensory-specific garments. Tickets are $30 and available for purchase on www.cirque-it.com. A portion of the proceeds will help to support Maker Kids, an organization that runs after-school programs and camps that shed light on topics such as 3D printing and robotics.
Cirkus Focus on Finland
On May 22nd, witness a stunning cultural exchange between Canadian and Finnish circus communities during the Cirkus Focus on Finland event, taking place at the Daniel Spectrum Theatre. Experience a full day of circus workshops and discussion panels, ending your evening with two awe-inspiring Finnish circus shows and a fantastic networking reception. Ticket packages start at $20 for adults and are available to purchase online at www.circusnorth.ca.
Twilight Masque - Masquerade Ball
Partnering with the Theatrix Costume House, Circus North is proud to present a fun-filled Masquerade Ball on May 23rd at 12 Trinity Street in the Distillery District.
