The Alice Aycock Poe Center For Health Education Announces 2007 Annual Meeting Award Winners

Raleigh, NC, November 27, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Kim Raynor, interim chief executive officer for The Alice Aycock Poe Center For Health Education (www.poehealth.org), a statewide nonprofit whose mission is to positively impact the lives of North Carolina youth through health education, has announced its 2007 Annual Meeting award winners. The following award recipients were honored at the Annual Meeting on Nov. 1 at the Poe Center in Raleigh:

• The Gordon Smith Jr. Award — Time Warner Cable
• Faye L. Miller Distinguished Service Award — Joe Bryan, Wake County Commissioner (District 1) and first vice president of investments at Wachovia Securities
• President’s Award — North Carolina PTA
• Physical Education Teacher of the Year Award — Al Woods, Pine Elementary School, Washington County

In addition to the awards, John Muter and Barnhill Contracting were recognized for their support of the Poe Center. The event featured keynote speaker, Dr. Sheila Collins, director of Translational Biology and the Program in Endocrine Biology and senior investigator at The Hamner Institutes for Health Sciences, who addressed obesity and diabetes.
