VIBCO Vibrators Wins PBN Business Excellence Award
Wyoming, RI, November 29, 2007 --(PR.com)-- VIBCO Vibrators will be awarded a Business Excellence Award from the Providence Business News at the 7th Annual Business Excellence Awards dinner to be held on Thursday, November 29.
VIBCO Vibrators is the winner in the “Under 100 Employees” category. VIBCO joins a prestigious group of previous winners in this category including Lighthouse Computer Services, Inc, Northeast Engineers & Consultants, Inc., Newport Collaborative Architects, Pot Au Feu, and Watch Hill Partners.
“I embrace our smallness – it allows us to be nimble and to quickly see all aspects of the business. Our whole value system and purpose is to listen to the voice of the customer and our relatively small size allows us to be incredibly responsive and flexible in the face of changing customer demands,” says VIBCO President, Karl Wadensten.
VIBCO has achieved outstanding growth in the past five years and has continued to create well-paying, skilled jobs in Rhode Island at pace of 13% per year since 2002.
VIBCO Vibrators’ growth and increased market share is due in large part to a company-wide Lean Manufacturing initiative. VIBCO’s strategic plan is to remain cost competitive by identifying and removing muda (waste) throughout all aspects of its operation. One key aspect of the Lean initiative has been employee training and education. VIBCO recently applied for and was awarded a $49,380 Comprehensive Worker Training Grant from the Governor’s Workforce Board to continue to build the learning and training opportunities available to all VIBCO employees.
VIBCO Vibrators has a unique corporate culture where each individual employee’s contribution is valued and lines of communication are open across all functional and heirarchical boundaries. All managers and staff members participate on cross-functional collaboration and project teams.
Another unique aspect of VIBCO’s culture is its comprehensive wellness program. All employees participate in a mandatory morning stretch. It’s a time for employees to engage in open forum discussion and to prepare their bodies for the day’s work. Hand, leg, shoulder, neck and back stretches all help to reduce the occurrence of workplace injuries and to promote a healthier, more energetic workplace.
Founded in 1962, VIBCO Vibrators designs, manufactures and markets a comprehensive range of electric, pneumatic and hydraulic vibrators for construction and industrial use. VIBCO Vibrators also designs, manufactures and markets a complete line of vibratory plate compactors and rollers. The company is headquartered in Wyoming, RI, USA.
