Hilliker Corporation to Sell Newspaper's Headquarters
St. Louis' only daily publication to move after 56 years.
St. Louis, MO, June 05, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Hilliker Corporation, a St. Louis owned and managed commercial real estate company, in collaboration with Twenty Lake Holdings as advisor to Lee Enterprises, was recently selected to market the St. Louis Post-Dispatch property. Located at 900 N. Tucker Blvd., the building is the publication’s sixth headquarters in its 137-year history.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch was founded in 1878. Lee Enterprises, located in Davenport, Iowa, has owned the newspaper since 2005. Hilliker Corporation president Meade Summers and vice president Scott Martin are marketing the 235,000-square-foot building listed for $4.25 million, which includes 30 on-site parking spaces. The six-story property has an additional 126,000-square-feet of lower level production space.
In addition to the building, there are four parking lots totaling 2.91 acres that hold more than 400 vehicles for sale at $1,350,000. A total price for both the building and the parking lots is $5.6 million.
Prior to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch occupying the building, it was the home to the Globe-Democrat, which ceased publishing in 1986. The building was designed in 1930 during the Great Depression by design company Mauran Russell and Crowell.
“Depending on the next owner, the building could remain as office space or be converted to residential usage,” said Hilliker Corporation president Meade Summers. “The building fills an entire block and would be appealing for a residential conversion since there are windows on all four sides plus potential for lower level inside parking spaces.” Summers added that a strong selling feature is the ample parking available.
Summers said the newspaper will search for a new location once the building is sold and will likely remain in the building for up to one year after it is purchased.
Hilliker Corporation, which targets regional and national entrepreneurs, is St. Louis’ largest locally owned independent commercial real estate company located at 1401 S. Brentwood Blvd. The firm’s agents, who each average over 15 years of experience, have completed more than 10,000 sales and leases for industrial, office, retail and institutional clients since its inception in 1985. For more information, contact Meade Summers or Scott Martin at (314) 781-0001.
