Brown and Son Plumbing LLC Conforms to New HVAC Efficiency Standards
Increased efficiency requirements for commercial and residential HVAC equipment.
Denton, TX, June 05, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The U.S. Department of Energy has begun to enforce new efficiency standards for all air conditioners and heat pumps installed on or after January 1, 2015. These changes were announced in April 2014 and standards differ by region, as determined by the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER). In Texas, the old 13 SEER standard has moved to 14 SEER for air conditioners, and heating pump efficiency has increased from 13 SEER and 7.7 HSPF to 14 SEER and 8.2 HSPF.
Additionally, the changes affect the FTC EnergyGuide label (yellow “hang tag”) attached to the heating and cooling system which contains SEER and HSPF ratings for the unit. Previously the label showed a single rating point, but will now show the full range of ratings representing the lowest and highest SEER ratings for all the condenser’s certified coil combinations. This means that the all of the component parts in the entire system must have an aggregate SEER that meets the new guidelines.
Ken Brown, owner of Brown and Sons Plumbing LLC, said, “Since the new standards were announced, we have prepared our technicians to understand and identify AC unit and heat pump efficiency standards. All equipment installed will meet the standards of new regulations as well as the needs of our customers.”
Anyone in the Denton, TX area with questions about the new standards can call Brown and Sons Plumbing LLC for more information.
