Ventura, CA, June 10, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Beginning July 1, 2015, Port Hueneme hoteliers will become part of the Ventura County Lodging Association (VCLA), a tourism business improvement district created in 2011 to fund marketing and sales efforts to increase lodging business. Port Hueneme lodging establishments join those in Camarillo, Oxnard and Ventura that contribute funds to the association through a 2 percent assessment on room rental revenue.
“Since VCLA began its VenturaCountyWest marketing campaign in 2012, lodging occupancy rates in Camarillo, Oxnard and Ventura have seen huge increases—some of the best in the state,” says Rebekah Evans, executive director of VCLA. “We are pleased that Port Hueneme hotels and inns have seen the value of these efforts and want to be a part of VCLA.”
Port Hueneme hoteliers include Holiday Inn Express Port Hueneme, Casa Via Mar Inn & Tennis Club, America’s Best Value Inn and the Seaside Inn.
“Joining VCLA will bring more exposure to the city and our hotel,” says Ruben Franco, general manager of Holiday Inn Express Port Hueneme located two blocks from the beach. ”A lot of people still don’t know Port Hueneme exists. We have been described as a hidden gem. Part of its charm is its beautiful sandy beach with an area for barbequing, a fishing pier and a walking/biking beachfront promenade.”
VCLA promotes VenturaCountyWest through print, electronic, broadcast and online media, social media, travel events and public relations.
“Being a part of VCLA will help showcase our town as a great location for a variety of events year round. We are already home to the Toni Young Hueneme Beach Festival in August and the annual Banana Festival, which follows in late September,” says Tracy Sisson Phillips, president and CEO of the Hueneme Chamber of Commerce. “So many people only see Hueneme as a port or naval base. Those are just the tip of the iceberg. Joining VCLA will position our city as a destination location.”
