SGS-TÜV Saar Certifies That Express Logic ThreadX® Meets ISO 26262 Requirements
ThreadX certification extended for use in automotive electronic and electrical systems.
San Diego, CA, June 10, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Express Logic, Inc., the worldwide leader in royalty-free real-time operating systems (RTOSes), today announced that its popular ThreadX® RTOS has been certified by SGS-TÜV Saar for use in the highest integrity levels of ISO 26262, the international standard governing automotive electronic and electrical systems. SGS-TÜV Saar, the leading accredited, independent company for testing, auditing, verifying, and certifying embedded software for safety-related systems, analyzed and verified the ThreadX RTOS for use in the development of such systems.
The ISO 26262 standard defines functional-safety processes throughout the development lifecycle for all automotive electronic and electrical safety-related systems. Consequently, the certification of ThreadX for ISO 26262 can simplify the certification process for automotive suppliers, saving them time and money and reducing their risk.
Faster Development, Lower Costs
Considering that 50–70 percent of all automotive recalls involve software, automotive manufacturers recognize the need to adopt stricter standards and a more meticulous approach to software development. With over 2 billion units deployed already, the pre-certified ThreadX ISO 26262 Functional Safety Standard solution offers such manufacturers a reliable priority-based, preemptive-scheduling, fully deterministic RTOS that can reduce the hurdles in meeting the ISO 26262 safety standard, thus saving development time and costs.
“The average vehicle incorporates more than 100 microcontrollers processing millions of lines of code that control everything from braking and steering to advanced driver-assisted systems,” said William E. Lamie, CEO of Express Logic, Inc. “Clearly, the RTOS that manages these microcontrollers must meet strict standards. Adding ISO 26262 compliance to all of our certifications underscores our commitment to provide our customers with the safest, most reliable, and highest-quality RTOS on the market. Our certification achievements build on almost 20 years’ experience in developing and delivering real-time operating systems that perform day in, day out without fail in safety-critical solutions across a large range of industries.”
