Slideboarding: the First Video-Game Integrated Waterslide Opens to the Public
Much more than a waterslide, Slideboarding challenges players in real life and through an engaging mobile game.
Richmond, Canada, June 11, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The grand opening charity event of the first Slideboarding waterslide in the world was a huge success on Memorial Day Weekend at Wet‘n’Wild Las Vegas (wetnwildlasvegas.com). Local celebrities from the area came out to the waterpark competing on behalf of a charitable organization for the grand prize of $1,000. Ronald McDonald House of Las Vegas bathed in the glory as BailRok (@bailrok), the youngest member of Rock Steady Crew from Americas Got Talent, won the competition and earned $1,000 for the charity. Slideboarding opened to the public at Wet‘n’Wild this weekend entertaining hundreds of new global players.
Slideboarding is taking the world by storm by gamifying a waterslide in a way that no one has imagined before.
Slideboarding Explained
Slideboarding is a waterslide. Slideboarding is a game. Slideboarding is an app. Slideboarding is a lifestyle. Slideboarding integrates the game play that Guitar Hero mastered in video games and integrates it into a real waterslide. A video game come to life. As players ride the waterslide, they pass under LED color changing targets and need to press the corresponding colored buttons on the ride vehicle’s handles. If the rider presses the correct color at the correct time, they rack up points.
Slideboarding is accompanied by a highly engaging app that simulates the real-life Slideboarding experience allowing players to build their skills both online and offline. Slideboarding is the first game to create a dynamic and symbiotic system that intertwines real-life play with in-app play seamlessly. Players use a single identity to gain points and badges at the park and within the app. The system never forgets you once you become a global registered player.
The free Slideboarding app officially launched in the iTunes App Store and the Google App Store on May 20th and is available to download now (iOS: https://goo.gl/kpb4Yc | Android: https://goo.gl/XYiMt2). The Slideboarding app allows players to ride each waterslide even before it’s open to the public.
Where to Ride
There are six additional Slideboarding installations coming down the pipeline that are already available to play in the app. Four Slideboarding waterslides will open this summer throughout the US at Water World in Colorado, at two Great Wolf Lodge locations in Pennsylvania and Williamsburg and at Wild Water Adventure Park in California. Later in the year, World Waterpark at West Edmonton Mall in Alberta, Canada will be opening a brand new Slideboarding waterslide for guests to ride away their cold winter blues.
Are you ready to play? Game on.
