Safety Tracking System© Developed by Bob Pope CHST

The Safety Tracking System© developed by Bob Pope CHST, Tri-State Technical Director at United Alliance Services, provides the essential data to track clients at-risk observations trending as a predictor of incident probability.

Wareham, MA, June 18, 2015 --(PR.com)-- It can be difficult for construction companies to measure and evaluate jobsite safety performance. What is needed is a way to take physical observations and convert them into numerical data that can be tabulated to provide measurement and evaluation. United Alliance Services’ Safety Tracking System© (STS©) developed by Bob Pope CHST provides clients with a clear, unbiased report on safety program efficacy.

In simplest terms, the intended use of the STS© output data is to identify current risk to help predict future risk in order to better prevent injuries, minimize losses, lower experience modification rates and thereby lower workers’ compensation premiums. As with any measurement tool, the STS© output data is only as reliable as the quantity and quality of input data. The amount of quality numerical data in each data point and the frequency of the data reporting shape the reliability of the STS© output data.

“Client’s at-risk observation trends are tracked by supervisor, jobsite and category, and therefore it enables them to accurately zero in on where to focus corrective actions. The biggest return comes when this system is able to reduce the probability of an accident by effectively helping identify where to be reducing the number of observed chances,” said Bob Pope, CSHT. Bob Pope is the Tri-State Technical Director for United Alliance Services. He created the Safety Tracking System over 29 years of working in the field as an occupational health and safety specialist.

In order for the output data to be reliable when first establishing the STS©, it is recommended that there is, at minimum, one jobsite safety audit (month-to-month). At least three data points are required to establish an at-risk observations trend line. Once the at-risk observations trend line is established, the service is re-evaluated and is typically tailed off, over time, as the improvement is observed in the data; eventually leading to a maintenance program of four to six safety audits annually.

"United Alliance's knowledge and experience has helped us go from a 20% EMR rating to a 91% credit in one year. United Alliance provides practical solutions for improved safety and reduction of employee liability," said Karen Grando, President of International Asbestos Removal, Inc. Bob Pope worked very closely with Karen Grando to implement the STS© at her company.

When injuries are averted, the result is, experience modification rates are lowered and clients can really begin to enjoy the return on investment. The cost of workplace injury is typically far more than most companies realize. When you combine the direct costs like workers’ compensation claims, and OSHA citations with indirect costs such as time lost from work, and accident investigations, for example, the price tag for injuries is quite a bit larger than you might expect.

So far, United Alliance Services has rolled out the STS© program to eight clients, and predicts that it will be rolling it out to 14 more by the end of the year.
