NCC Summer Supper Tradition Continues for 49th Year
Niantic, CT, June 20, 2015 --(PR.com)-- A 49 year tradition returns to Niantic Community Church this summer when roast beef and turkey dinners complete with all the festive trimmings are offered on Tuesday, July 7 and August 4, and a good old New England Lobster Stew Dinner is offered on Tuesday, July 21. The roast beef and turkey suppers include mashed potatoes, gravy, cole slaw, green beans, rolls, cranberry sauce and homemade desserts for the budget price of $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Shannon and Carole Glenn, and Rich Thomson and Ron Johnson will chair the traditional summer suppers and tickets are sold at the door.
The Lobster Stew Dinner will feature fresh Maine lobsters, cooked by church members Sonya and Dennis Hoisington and their team of volunteers. Dinners includes corn on the cob, garden salad, lemonade and a choice of lobster stew or chicken breast and of course brownies and ice cream for dessert. Tickets for this dinner are sold in advance only, in the church office or by calling Sonya Hoisington at (860) 235-0170 or stop by Remax On The Bay at 61 Pennsylvania Ave, Niantic. Tickets are $20 for lobster and $10 for chicken.
All suppers are held 5:30-7:30 p.m. and offer indoor, air conditioned seating as well as outdoor summer sun seating, and take out is available.
Locals and visitors, summer tourists and tradition seekers, and generations of families attend these events and are never disappointed. A plethora of volunteers from NCC come together to make these events possible, serving delectable food, family style. They order supplies, they cook, they bake, they wait tables and clean up afterwards. Everyone plays a part and it is pure magic how it all unfolds, appearing to be an effortless, well choreographed display of unity toward a common goal. Proceeds from the Summer Suppers help fund the general operating budget of the church and its many ministries, and the value of the fellowship is priceless.
