The Bourbon Chase Reveals New Partnership with Ragnar Relay Series
Louisville, KY, June 20, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The Bourbon Chase, the premier 200-mile overnight running relay adventure that showcases the best of Kentucky, recently announced a new partnership with the Ragnar Relay Series, the country’s premier overnight relay series.
Beginning The Bourbon Chase in 2009, Kentucky native and relay founder Mike Kuntz, who later partnered up with John Sheryak in 2014, has grown what was once a 150-team race into an event that uses a lottery to fill the 400-team slots available. Each year, the relay organizers challenge themselves to elevate runner experience with themes - this year it is “Roaring Twenties” - and a unique blend of Kentucky passions such as bourbon tasting, horse racing and music.
“We are excited to announce our new partnership with our friends at Ragnar. Staging nearly 30 road and trail races annually across the country, there is no one better than Ragnar in delivering an overnight relay,” said Kuntz. “Since The Bourbon Chase is the epitome of a ‘boutique’ local event, and Ragnar is synonymous with the term ‘overnight relay,’ it only makes sense that we work together to create an unparalleled experience for nearly 5,000 runners on our course.”
This new relationship benefits The Bourbon Chase by providing access to some technologies and logistical enhancements that will:
· Improve and streamline online registration
· Increase opportunities with respect to technology on and surrounding race weekend
· Provide a faster and more efficient check-in process on race day
· Add more emphasis on safety along the course
· Enhance selection of The Bourbon Chase branded merchandise and gear
· Provide even cooler finisher medals and participant shirts
“We have so much respect for Mike and John and what they have been able to accomplish with The Bourbon Chase. As such, we can’t wait to be a part of it,” said Chris Infurchia, CEO of Ragnar. “Just as we lend our support to The Bourbon Chase we are eager to gain insights and best practices from them to implement at our own races.”
The Bourbon Chase is taking place October 16-17, 2015 beginning at the Jim Beam Distillery near Bardstown, Kentucky and concluding in downtown Lexington. For additional course information, visit www.bourbonchase.com.
Registration for the 2016 race will begin January 2, 2016.
