Las Vegas, NV, June 26, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours, the leading source for discount Canyon flights, announced today that it's discounting select tours from Las Vegas and the South Rim for the upcoming July 4th holiday weekend.

Independence Day is Saturday this year but it's expected that the majority of travelers will be arriving at the Park on Thursday evening or throughout Friday. "This holiday is will be the biggest one of the summer," said Keith Kravitz, owner of Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours. "It's best to get those air tours booked and in the bag."

Travelers booking helicopter rides can do some from Las Vegas, NV, or South Rim, which is located near the town of Tusayan, AZ. Please keep in mind that Vegas helicopters only fly to the West Rim. Travelers who want to go to the South Rim from Las Vegas are advised to take the plane.

Las Vegas

The Vegas helicopter tour that's on special is the chopper/rafting package. It starts with a helicopter ride to the bottom of the Canyon and concludes with a smooth-water raft trip down the Colorado River. "Make sure you're ready for adventure," said Kravitz. "And there's plenty of swimming on this trip."

The other tour that's marked down is the one that flies over Lake Mead, Las Vegas, the Colorado River and the Grand Canyon before heading back to Las Vegas. "There are two version of this trip," noted Kravitz. "The best one includes hotel limo pick up and drop off plus an extended flight over the Vegas Strip."

South Rim

This Rim's special is the 50-minute flight. It starts from the South Rim, flies to the East Rim, goes across the Canyon, flies over the North Rim and than back to the South where Grand Canyon National Park Airport is located. Once done, travelers will have seen up to 75 percent of the Park.

All tours mentioned have basic and deluxe versions. The primary difference is the helicopter. Basic tours use standard helicopters while the deluxe ones use the EcoStar 130, which features a cabin that's 25 percent larger. The EcoStar also features a 180-degree wraparound windshield and stadium-style bucket seats.

RSVP

July 4th is expected to be very busy. As such, it's recommended that travelers book their tour as far in advance as possible. Those attempting to book a flight within 48 hours of flight time can expect to pay a premium. "It's not advised to book a same-day tour during this holiday," noted Kravitz. "Travelers will either pay a fortune to fly or the flight will be sold out."

Weather

It's expected to be perfect flying weather. However, it will be hot and travelers are encouraged to dress comfortably, especially for Vegas flights to the West Rim where temperatures are easily over 100 degrees. The South Rim, too, will be hot, but not like the West Rim because the South rests at a higher elevation.
