Discover Chewelah, Washington State’s Last Frontier
Chewelah, WA, June 26, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The Chewelah Motel and RV Park opened its doors to the public on 05 June 15. They have eight bedrooms, twenty-seven RV spaces, and ten camping spots.
The former 49er Motel in S Park St. is under new management and renovations have been made from the time ABDK Properties purchased it this year. “Our guests can enjoy the rustic setting yet have the convenience of home. Each room is equipped with all-brand-new amenities such as a 42” flat screen TV, cable, an air conditioner, mini refrigerator, microwave, and a coffee maker. Wi-Fi is available for all guests, whether they be in a motel room, RV park, or camp site,” said owner Kirk Haggerty. Aside from these, the driveway and parking lot was asphalted, and the RV park space spruced for guests.
Although there are several motels and inns in the area, the Chewelah Motel and RV Park intends to offer more than just a place to spend the night. “At Chewelah Motel and RV Park guest will be able to choose to rent a room, park their RV, or pitch a tent, all within the majestic view of Mount Quartzite,” added Deanna, Kirk’s wife and business partner. “Our goal is to give our guests memorable experience they can cherish for a long time,” the couple said.
ABDK Properties similarly purchased and updated The Selkirk Motel in Colville six years ago. The Colville Valley offers so much in the way of outdoors adventure for every season. Scott and Cherie Britton are retired business owners and published authors who jumped at the chance to leave their own retirement lifestyle in Walla Walla to be onsite managers for the Haggertys. Before taking the job the Brittons drove up to see the property and immediately fell in love with the valley and quaint community. The area reminded the couple of their visit to western Montana.
While there are more popular destinations in the country, particularly in big cities, the Haggertys have built their motels in these areas not simply because it’s close to home but they also believe in what picturesque destinations like Chewelah has to offer.
Property owners in Chewelah have been progressive in recent years modernizing their properties and the new Chewelah Motel and RV Park plans to be a family and pet friendly valued addition to that effort. The town is situated close to various outdoor activities like tubing, mountain biking, boating, golfing, hunting, fishing, hiking, mountain climbing, alpine skiing. It is truly a place for all seasons for locals and visitors alike.
Chewelah’s Code of Ordinance 10.25.090 makes it legal to drive off-road vehicles (ORV) such as 4x4s and all-terrain-vehicles (more popularly known as ATVs) in the streets and roads except on highways and unless posted closed. This is what sets Chewelah, WA apart from its nearby areas and is a huge come-on for ATV enthusiasts. The town also boosts miles of roads which connect to ATV designated trails in the Colville National Forest.
The Chewelah Motel and RV Park spreads across five acres and is 0.2 miles from downtown (five-minute walk if you tread leisurely) and is a four-minute drive to the famous Chewelah Casino. Chewelah also has a nice assortment of coffee shops restaurants and local shopping for its 2500 residents and visitors.
Future plans include expansion of services by renovating the left wing which needs some updating. The renovation of bunk house which has four units is next on the list. Other areas of the property will be developed to serve the needs of the public as its clientele grows.
