US Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Vega ECM Solutions Win Global Awards for Excellence in Case Management
Washington, DC, June 26, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) was recognized by the industry’s business process standards body for excellence in implementing Adaptive Case Management solutions in government. At the Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC) annual awards ceremony for Excellence in Case Management, NRC was additionally judged as the best overall submission for 2015 across all industries. Providing significant productivity improvements to their knowledge workers, the solutions deployed by the NRC have resulted in substantial time savings and return on investment as well as better compliance to federal regulations and mandates.
The mission of the NRC is to license and regulate the United States’ civilian use of nuclear reactors, fissionable materials, and waste in order to protect public health, safety, and the environment, and to promote the common defense and security. In order to meet this mission and shoulder this enormous responsibility, the NRC designed, developed, and implemented a true enterprise solution that provides complete clarity and transparency of both historic and current operational data, shortening task completion time by as much as 75%.
Utilizing Enterprise Content and Case Management products from Vega and IBM, the NRC’s systems automate and streamline processes including public meeting notifications, secretary of the NRC tracking and reporting, public disclosures, compliance with the Freedom of Information Act, among many others. The solutions are utilized across the NRC from the Offices of the Chairman and Commissioners through the general staff. Even the public can access documents generated from these solutions through a number of NRC websites (see http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html for links to various sites).
“The NRC’s solutions show the tremendous value of Adaptive Case Management,” commented Matt Barnickle, Vega CEO. “With an ROI across all applications averaging 150%, the NRC solutions empower their staff with case automation and 360 degree access to the content and information required to make rapid, effective decisions”.
The award was based on the submission of a detailed case study which describes several of the key processes, challenges and benefits from the various solutions at the NRC. The detailed case study will be included in a publication distributed by the Workflow Management Coalition in November/December 2015. “The NRC has taken the initiative to better serve its constituents, improve productivity and maintain compliance with federal mandates. We are proud to be a part of it,” Barnickle commented.
